1. Osteoporosis Drug Raloxifene Does Not Protect Against Coronary Heart Disease, But Reduces Breast Cancer Risk (Posted: 08/28/2006, Updated: 07/17/2008) - The drug raloxifene (Evista®) did not prevent heart problems in postmenopausal women with, or at high risk for, coronary heart disease, according to the July 13, 2006, issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

2. Gemcitabine after Pancreatic Cancer Surgery Improves Survival (Posted: 06/24/2008) - Patients who received the chemotherapy drug gemcitabine after surgery for pancreatic cancer lived two months longer than patients who had surgery alone, according to findings presented at the 2008 ASCO meeting in Chicago.

3. Studies Make Case for Finasteride to Prevent Prostate Cancer (Posted: 06/24/2008) - Three new analyses of data from a large prostate cancer prevention trial bolster the case for finasteride as a preventive agent against prostate cancer, according to an article published online May 18, 2008, by the journal Cancer Prevention Research.

4. Carboplatin May Be Less Toxic Than Radiation for Seminoma (Posted: 06/07/2004, Updated: 06/23/2008) - One shot of carboplatin may be as effective as radiation therapy in treating early seminoma, a kind of testicular cancer, according to updated findings presented at the 2008 ASCO meeting in Chicago.

5. Zoledronic Acid Improves Early Breast Cancer Treatment (Posted: 06/19/2008) - The addition of zoledronic acid (Zometa) to adjuvant endocrine therapy in premenopausal women with early stage breast cancer significantly improves clinical outcomes beyond those achieved with endocrine therapy alone, according to findings presented at the 2008 ASCO meeting in Chicago.
