Stage IV Anal Cancer

Current Clinical Trials

There is no standard chemotherapy for patients with metastatic disease. Palliation of symptoms from the primary lesion is of major importance. Patients in this stage should be considered candidates for clinical trials.

Standard treatment options:

  1. Palliative surgery.
  2. Palliative radiation therapy.
  3. Palliative combined chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
  4. Clinical trials.
Current Clinical Trials

Check for U.S. clinical trials from NCI's PDQ Cancer Clinical Trials Registry that are now accepting patients with stage IV anal cancer 1. The list of clinical trials can be further narrowed by location, drug, intervention, and other criteria.

General information about clinical trials is also available from the NCI Web site 2.
